TEACHING PHILOSOPHY:

Music to me, is a form of communication that conveys concepts that go beyond mere words. My objective for these young individuals is to guide them in discovering the appropriate methods to articulate challenging emotions that words fail to capture, whether by moving their bodies to the music or expressing themselves through sounds, all while also understanding each child has its own way of gathering and holding information. My main focus in class will be finding the balance between the sheer joy music brings us as well as building fundamental skills in all areas of music. As an educator, I will make an effort to consider each student’s unique learning style and objectives, adjusting my lessons accordingly. I can’t wait to see you in class and experience how music moves us all!

MY BACKGROUND:

In 2014, I received a bachelor's degree in theater with a makeup and costume design concentration from the University of Mississippi. With more than 16 years of coaching, I have instructed students of all ages in everything from ballroom dancing to sewing to painting workshops! I'm excited to work at UMA and gain more experience teaching young students the value of music!

WHEN I’M NOT TEACHING:

I've been able to enjoy spending time with my boys as they grow up right in front of my eyes since I became a homemaker in 2018. Our days are spent learning through rewarding experiences and homeschooling. I like to spend time in my sewing studio as well. In addition to testing sewing designs for several companies, I make matching outfits for my boys and myself. As I often remark, my two boys are some of my most valued creative creations!
