TEACHING PHILOSOPHY:

As a music teacher, I believe that every child has a unique inner voice waiting to be discovered and nurtured. My goal is to create a welcoming, supportive environment where students feel safe to explore, make mistakes, and grow as both musicians and as individuals. I aim to guide them at a pace that honors their individuality while planting seeds for a lifelong appreciation of music. Taking a holistic approach influenced by my background in teaching dance and yoga to adults and children, I incorporate movement exercises, rhythm, and play in learning.

MY BACKGROUND:

I was born and raised in Waterbury, CT where I grew up singing for my community, church, and school from a very young age. As an adolescent, I began performing the National Anthem for local sports, my high school home games, and serving as soloist for Sunday morning Mass. A lifelong passion has always been choir, from which most of my vocal opportunities came from. I joined every possible choir from middle school, through college, and further as an adult community member. My experience and passion has allowed me versatility in many genres from classical and opera to pop music and musical theatre. I’ve been fortunate to experience a tour through the UK with my undergrad, the excitement and rejection of auditioning in New York City and Walt Disney World, and the opportunity to sing with the Annapolis Chorale as a member of Live Arts Maryland. I have lived in many beautiful areas of our country, broadening my understanding of people and art that continues today.

WHEN I’M NOT TEACHING:

My favorite thing to do is have an at-home karaoke party with my daughter. Aside from singing and music, my passions include dance, yoga, hiking, reading, film study, anthropology, theatre, and science. I believe that learning is living and leading with kindness.
